About
Dr. Lukas Boch is a historian and game researcher who worked as a research assistant at the Department of Historical Theology and its Didactics at the University of Münster until the end of 2024. There, he earned his doctorate in 2025 with a dissertation on the portrayal of the Middle Ages in modern board games as part of popular (church) historical cultures. He is a founding member of the “Boardgame Historian” project and a member of the “Working Group on Humanities and Digital Games” (AKGWDS). He is also co-responsible for the “Mittelalter Digitall” project.
Since November 2024, Lukas Boch has served as a research project assistant at the European Hansemuseum in Lübeck, where he is responsible for the exhibition “Let’s Play the Middle Ages: How Games Tell History,” and acts as the contact person for board games at the “Lab for Analog Games and Imaginative Play” led by Prof. Dr. Adrian Hermann at the University of Bonn.
