The University of Bonn owes the Dahrendorf Library to the donation to the Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Bonn (ULB) of Lady Christiane Dahrendorf, the widow of the sociologist, publicist and politician Lord Ralf Dahrendorf, who deceased in 2009.

Since 2012, it has been located in the basement of the Bonner Universitätsforum on Heussallee 18-24, the former representation of Rhineland-Palatinate, which hosted its guests and held feasts inside the then club house until 2000.

The Dahrendorf Library is associated with the Forum Internationale Wissenschaft and its Dahrendorf professorchip “Theorie der Modernen Gesellschaft”.
