Bonn Lab for Analog Games and Imaginative Play (LAGIP)
The Bonn Lab for Analog Games and Imaginative Play (LAGIP) at the Forum Internationale Wissenschaft is a cultural studies laboratory for all activities related to (analog) games and gaming cultures.
What is LAGIP?
The Bonn Lab for Analog Games and Imaginative Play is a university laboratory dedicated primarily to researching modern analog games and forms of play in an increasingly digital world. This way, LAGIP as an institution seeks to counteract a gap in the field of game studies, which usually focuses on digital games.
Based at the Forum Internationale Wissenschaft (International Science Forum) at the University of Bonn, it is primarily a research and teaching laboratory for the humanities, but expressly does not exclude approaches from the natural sciences.
As a play laboratory, it focuses on the transformative potential of analog games, with a particular interest in analog game systems and the resulting gaming practices and their influence on the imagination of children and adults.
Activities
To highlight the importance of analog games for culture, society, and research, Bonn Lab organizes events such as conferences, workshops, and game nights, publishes articles and books, and conducts courses.
