Welcome at the Forum Internationale Wissenschaft
The Forum Internationale Wissenschaft (FIW), established in 2012, is a central scientific research unit of the University of Bonn. Its research activities examine global function systems of modern society, both with regard to their autonomy and to their growing interconnectedness. Our scientific departments focus on democracy and autocracy as competing regime types in contemporary politics (Comparative Research on Democracies), on the definition and solution of problems in the system of science (Science Studies), and on the different understandings of the world by religious belief systems (Comparative Research on Religions). Based on this research, the FIW also provides a platform for public debate on the changing meanings and conflictual developments of these three global systems of communication.
We are pleased to announce the acceptance of Prof. Dr. Adrian Hermann.
We are looking forward to the visit of Dr. Lucian Leistean (Aston University Birmingham) on Dec 14th. He will give the last talk in our lecture series on "Religion and Politics" and talk about the geopolitical implication of the Holy and Great Synod held 2016 by the orthodox churches.
Successful acceptance of a DFG-Project on the role of NGOs in autocratically structured political systems.
On November 30th, Prof. Gurharpal Singh from the University of London (School of Oriental and African Studies) will be a guest speaker at the FIW. He will give a talk on religion and politics in India.
