Antworten an die Zukunft: Fragile Staaten

Series: Die Welt im Wandel
Poster - Die Welt im Wandel - Anworten an die Zukunft - medium.jpg

Nation states require both a state and a nation. These concepts are historically grown in Europe and were exported into other parts of the world in the course of colonial policies. The idea of states often did not match local social structures and other culture’s ordering principles. Although the present-day world is - from the international community’s angle - seemingly organised in nation states, multiple systems co-exist and interfere.

This causes conflicts, which are often rooted in a lack of acceptance by the state monopoly and lead to “failed states”. What kind of conflicts does it have for international policies? What kind of solutions are developed and which options exist?
