Lena Laube studied sociology in Berlin, Wellington (NZ) and Bremen. From 2007- 2013, she worked as a research assisant at University of Bremen and completed her doctorate in 2012 at the Collaborative Research Center 597 “Staatlichkeit im Wandel”. Her project was on the change of border regimes in the OECD between 1970 and 2011. Lena Laube is an alumni of the Bremen International Graduate School for Social Sciences (BIGSSS).
Since 2013, Lena Laube is managing director of the Forum Internationale Wissenschaft (FIW). Along with Rudolf Stichweh, she works on the further development of the scientific departments and the establishment of scientific cooperations in the region.
As a research fellow (Postdoc), she is a part of the Department of Comparative Research on Democracies. In a recent study on the historical development of global visa policies, she links questions of political inclusion with those of global mobility control.
