Galina Selivanova, has acquired a Masters in Sociology from Saint Petersburg State University and the University of Bielefeld, and currently works on her PhD at Scuola Normale Superiore in Italy. Her dissertation investigates election monitoring organisation focusing on the social movement strategies used to establish free and fair elections in post-Soviet states. In April 2020 she joined FIW to work at the BMBF funded project „Wohlmeinende Autokratinnen in Demokratien. Gemeinwohlvorstellungen und -programme von Stiftungen und der Faktor Partizipation“ (PD Dr. Pascal Goeke und Dr. Evelyn Moser). 
 
Before joining FIW she worked as a lecturer in the NRU Higher School of Economics, teaching at the international Master’s Programme 'Comparative Politics of Eurasia' (October 2018 - March 2020). Previously she was also engaged in several research projects at the Laboratory for Internet Studies (NRU HSE, St.Petersburg) investigating effects of social media on local civil society groups.
