Rudolf Stichweh receives the „Sarton Medal“ of Ghent University (Belgium) for the year 2020/1

The ‘Faculty of Political and Social Sciences’ of Ghent University (Belgium) has honoured Rudolf Stichweh with the „Sarton Medal for the History of Science“ of Ghent University for the academic year of 2020/1. The medal is handed over during a lecture which Stichweh holds on the history of the social science at Ghent University on the 28th of January 2020. George Sarton is known as formative founder of the history of science as an autonomous scientific discipline. He was born in Ghent in 1884 where he also studied. From 1916 until 1951 Sarton worked with the Carnegie Foundation in Washington D.C. and as a professor for the history of science at Harvard University.
