On the 17th of January 2018, the lecture series “Die Welt im Wandel” reconvened with presentations and a following panel discussion making “Focus Media: The Right to Access to Information” a subject of discussion. The speakers of the evening, Quinn McKew and Patrick Benning were able to share their in-depth expertise regarding press freedom to the interested audience.

With an interactive lecture performance called “Beautiful trouble – inspiring interventions!”, The Yes Men showcased their projects and discussed approaches to and ideas of modern protest culture with our audience at the Bonner Universitätsforum on November 11th, 2017.

On 06.11.2017, the lecture series “Die Welt im Wandel” reconvened with a panel discussion entitled “Focus Global Player: The US and Climate Policy”. Being temporarily and spatially located in utmost proximity to COP 23, the evening promised to allow for a lively discussion of the United States’ distinct stance on environmental policy.

For the last time in 2017, the FIW hosted yet another event as part of its current lecture series “Die Welt im Wandel”. Entitled “Focus Government: New ways of thinking and doing politics in Germany and partner countries”, the audience was looking forward to a fruitful discussion regarding the implementation of SDGs with experts from Namibia, Georgia, and Germany.

The Bulgarian member of UN-Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s Scientific Advisory Board, Maria Ivanova, came to the Bonner Universitätsforum on June 27th. Her lecture about the Global Environmental Conventions in relation with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals was joined by a comment from Jakob Rhyner, Vice-Rector in Europe of the UN University.

On May 5, 2015, the FIW, in cooperation with the GIZ, the DW Akademie and the Liaison Office for Academic Sciences of the city of Bonn, hosted the second event of the lecture series "Die Welt im Wandel: Klima. Global. Digital". We were honoured to welcome our international guest Laura Thompson, Ambassador and Deputy Director General of the International Migration Organization (IOM), Genf.
"Peacekeeping at the crossroads. Current challenges for the United Nations" - Conrad Schetter & Francesco Galtieri at the DIE [UNat70]
On June 18th, 2015, we welcomed Conrad Schetter (BICC) and Francesco Galtieri (UN Volunteers) at the DIE. More than 100 guests came to listen to the speakers and discuss current processes within the UN peacekeeping missions.
"Save the People and the Planet" - Jens Martens & Christine Hackenesch at the FIW [UNat70]
On September 7th, 2015, we welcomed Jens Martens from the Global Policy Forum (GPF) and Christine Hackenesch from the German Development Institute (DIE/GDI) at the Bonner Universitätsforum for the second half of our lecture series "The United Nations at 70: 'Fit for the Future we want?'". About 150 local and international guests, including a course from the Clara-Schumann-Gymnasium, joined us to discuss the new agenda for sustainable development.

The three megatrends urbanisation, climate change and digital change constantly influence each other, especially in huge cities. We welcomed Prof. Michael Batty from the Centre for Spatial Analysis (University College London) and around 100 guests to discuss the current developments

(german only) Im Rahmen der sechsten Vortragsveranstaltung unserer Reihe „Die Welt im Wandel: Klima. Global. Digital.“ widmeten wir uns am 16.06.2015 im Bonner Universitätsforum dem (entwicklungs-)politischen Diskurs. Mit unserer Gastreferentin Vera Scholz, Abteilungsleiterin Umwelt und Klima der Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), diskutierten wir mit 130 Veranstaltungsteilnehmer/innen aktuelle Schwerpunkte und konkrete Projekte der Klimapolitik und Entwicklungszusammenarbeit der Bundesregierung.

Digital.“ im Sommersemester 2015 beschäftigten wir uns am 30.06.2015 im Bonner Universitätsforum mit den Perspektiven der internationalen Klimapolitik der Bundesregierung. Mit unserer Gastreferentin Ingrid Gabriela Hoven, Abteilungsleiterin im Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung, diskutierten wir in unserer ausgebuchten Veranstaltung mit über 150 Veranstaltungsteilnehmer/innen die aktuellen Entwicklungen und Chancen der internationalen Klimapolitik.
"Fit for Purpose? The United Nations' role in the future we want" - Final Event [UNat70]
With a panel discussion on November 5th, 2015, the final event of our "The United Nations at 70: Fit for 'The Future We Want'?" lecture series took place. We welcomed around 180 guests. Prof. Dr. Michael Hoch, Rector of the University of Bonn, and Ashok-Alexander Sridharan, Mayor of the City of Bonn, opened the envening and gave two warm welcome addresses. Our moderator Monika Hoegen introduced our panellists, five distinguished experts and profound authorities from Bonn-based UN organisations and the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.
